Pep Guardiola to end reign as Barcelona coach in summer

PepGuardiola will stand down as Barcelona manager at the end of the season after deciding not to renew his rolling one-year contract.

The 41 year-old, who was appointed in 2008 and has led the Catalan club to 13 trophies, will be succeeded by current assistant Tito Vilanova.

Guardiola says: “the reason is simple: four years is enough”, “I’m drained and need to fill up. The demand has been very high and a manager must be strong”.

I’ve chosen this news because it is on the front of all the newspapers, on the internet, on all the TV channels…etc, and it is important for all the Catalans who are fan club. I feel sad because he has done history here in FCB, and I like him and his way of being, his way to do and his thinking. All fans will be unmotivated to see the best coach leaves here, and even more, the players, who have been colleagues for four years. I think he doesn’t want to leave because, here, he has his house and his life, but the famous people have to move because here, he has done a particularly good work, and he wants to do that in another place and grow up the new team.

Blind

“Blind”mice eyesight treated with transplanted cells

British scientists have restored the sight of blind mice by transplanting light-sensitive photoreceptor cells into their eyes.

The work is a step towards a new treatment for patients with degenerative eye diseases.

Institute of Ophtalmology says: we’re hopeful that we will soon be able to replicate this success with photoreceptors derived from embryonic stem cells and eventually to develop human trials”.

But although the results appear promising, there are still many steps to go. For example, more animal studies will be needed before such a technique would be tried with humans.

In my opinion, I think this advance of the vision is very important for the blind. Over time they can see what really is happening ahead, will be independent and be freer with themselves.

Apart from other serious diseases and transplantation, I think the vision is very important. You can live without seeing but it deprives them of many things. And I believe that blind people are very brave and strong, because I don’t know what to do if you couldn’t see the floor, unable to see my family, and if I couldn’t see what my eyes see every day. 

Acid attacks

This news talks about cases of acid attacks are increasing in most areas. more than 150 women have acid thrown on them every year, usually by husbands, and many never set justice. The news explains two cases from  two girls who have been affected of this acid attack. They express how they feel and how their husbands did it. 

When I've read this news I was shocked. I don't know how these husbands think or their points of view but in my opinion they are doing particularly things worse. They destroy their lives for ever, even if the doctors could cure their wounded faces, they are going to be deformed the rest of their lives. These wives have a lot of pain inside their bodies and they say: "colours have gone from my life". 

DOING TRADITIONAL DONUTS OF CATALONIA

In Easter of this year I went to my grandmother’s house to do Catalan doughnuts. It was really great! My mother went there in the morning because they had to do the pastry, and in the afternoon my sister and I went there to do the donuts.

This year the pastry grew up very quickly and we started at 3 o’clock, approximately. I was cutting de pastry in lines and then in little pieces. Then, my mother was doing a little hole in the pieces and putting them in the casserole. Then my grandmother was frying the pieces and putting them inside a boul. At the end of the series, my sister was crystallizing the doughnuts. But the finalist of the series was my grandfather, who was eating them.

I really laughed doing it with my family and I think we did a good job, because I don’t like donuts, but I tasted it and was really good. I like to do something traditional of Catalonia and doing it with my family, too.

One day in BCN

5 days ago I went to Barcelona to spend a day there with my family together. We wanted to go to the Titanic’s exhibition in the morning, but it was raining and when we arrived there we had to wait almost 2 or 3 hours to go in. We were really wet and we decided to go to a mall. We got on a taxi. I hadn’t ever entered in a taxi. It was incredible! I was particularly exciting because I love go shopping even if it’s for me. I bought some T-shirts because the summer is coming, I also bought trousers and two dresses. When we finished the shopping we went to have lunch because we were hungry. Then we back up in a taxi. The driver was very sympathetic and I laughed a lot. We went back to the Titanic’s exhibition and then there weren’t anybody waiting. So, we went in very fast. The exhibition was utterly fantastic. I love this film and even if I had seen some real objects and listened the real history. After two hours inside, we left there. We went to visit our friends of Barcelona. We went to have dinner in a restaurant together, and at twelve o’clock we left Barcelona.

I really enjoyed this day!

LA RIERA

It is a TV series that talks about the history of a family, and her friends, who has a restaurant in a village on the coast, called Sant Climent, not far from Barcelona.

I’m doing this writing about “La Riera” because I like it so much. At first, when it began I didn’t follow the story, but sometimes with my grandma and my mother talked about it. And finally they stuck me to watch it every afternoon.

This story, how I said before, is about a family who has a restaurant. The mother, Mercè, is widow and she has 4 children who are adults. They called Claudi, Ernest, Lluís and Sergi. They also have children except Sergi. In this series they have a lot of problems day a day, but it’s amusing because all the problems are related with them and with some of their friends, too.

Claudi is divorced twice and he has three children. He is the worst of the brothers, and his character is the same like his mother. He isn’t a good father and he loves his business.

Ernest is divorced recently from his daughter’s mother. They have deceived each other and their daughter, Ariadna, is destroyed. He is so humble and worker. Ernest is the director of the restaurant.

Lluís is the naughtiest of them. He was always rather independent, but now he is changing and he has given that he wants to help other people who really need his help. Lluís is the reviewer of the restaurant’s room.

And finally, Sergi is the smallest. He hasn’t married yet but he has a girlfriend. He is the chef of the kitchen. He is new in the job and very immature in this type, but he is learning so fast and working hard to forward this restaurant.

A part from those characters there are a lot of more ones, but I think those are the most important to explain you how the series is and a small summary from the protagonists. I hope you have enjoyed this redaction and I hope you like it if you look at the series.
