Sharks are one of the most extraordinary animals on planet earth. They have existed in the earth for 450 millions of years. Due to bad publicity, they have a bad reputation. I don’t like sharks because they are so dangerous and give me respect go into the sea or in deep water. So I want to know their characteristics and qualities because I don’t know much about them.
Sharks are fish because they have gills and don’t come to the surface to get breath. A shark’s skeleton is made of strong, heavy bones as terrestrial vertebrates, instead have a skeleton made of cartilage that gives the underwater speed and flexibility they need as they are predators. The sharks’ teeth are in long rows. While the teeth are falling new ones of the other row come forward to fill is empty. They could have 20.000 teeth in their life.
Sharks can quickly adapt in any situation for food. Studies show that sharks are very intelligent. They have the ability to solve problems.
If they sleep, they have their eyes open. Only one part of their brain sleeps and they can continue the cycle of fresh air while they sleep.
Generally they reside in water from 7000 feet to 10000 feet. They are rarely found lower or higher than that. When they are in other elevations is due to fear of danger or findfood.
Shark skin is very rough. This gives you protection from other animals including other sharks.
Sharks can reproduce in three different ways: born out alive from mother, developed an egg inside the mother and another one, the mother will lay an egg and the young will be born later. Some species have only one son at a time, others have more than 100 in unison.
There are many types of sharks, such as whale shark, white shark, goblin shark, crocodile shark, hammerhead shark, tiger shark, thresher shark, etc.
